I saw the sign...
This is my final post about our time on the road. We have traveled from Surrey BC, up to Whitehorse and back in the last 18 days. With 3 teenagers in a motorhome. It has been an amazing adventure. We have seen the most beautiful places; seen sights we won’t forget and animals that we have never seen before. It really has been a beautiful adventure. This last adventure post is about signs. We saw so many along the road talking about the history of this land we drove on. Almost

Colonization is easier if you have a road...
The Alaska Highway, the greatest road ever built…but wait is it really? Whose story is that, whose voices do we hear when that story is told? And whose voices are left out of that story? And at what cost? Our trip has brought us to Whitehorse in the Yukon. We are so lucky to be traveling through the Yukon. It is without doubt, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Hell's Gate
Today’s blog comes to you from the road. We are taking our RV on a road trip through BC to see the sights. Hell’s Gate was our first stop. I remember going there as a very young child but my memory and what the place looks like today are two different versions of this place. We hopped on the tram to take us down to what is known as Hell’s Gate. On the tram we were told this harrowing story of Simon Fraser and his team riding their birch bark canoe over the rapids. His thou

Circle work: Being together as a relation.
My writing today is about being together in circle. I have been asked by the BCPVPA to come speak with new administrators about how to approach leadership with a wholistic view. This got me thinking about what I personally do in my spaces that encourages relationality. Relationality for me, is kinship. Kinship is a reminder that we are all connected. From my perspective the foundation of our work in education is relationships. We cannot learn and grow from each other without
